How these ambiguous opinions exceeding all Mahommedan dreams arise by natural reasons, when God the Creator is timeless, is by the minister of his messengers of fire. The above verse placed as it is at the beginning of the Prophecies is considered to be an essential part of Nostradamus' initiating and experiencing his visions. In understanding the Prophecies we need to pay attention to their stated origin as well as what Nostradamus tells us about this source and the content to which he was exposed.
It is highly probable that Nostradamus' powers were that of a mortal man and that his source was a composite image created by his mind from subliminal contact with individuals from other times. Every mind constantly creates a reality where none exists and this is true of everything our senses tell us. The fundamental truth of who we are is our senses have evolved to serve us by using deceptions. So we see the world the right way up, we think that we know the past and lengths and shape of things are as we see them. Also built into our perception of the world is an internal belief that we control our reaction times.
Because of the variations of evolution there can be no doubt that there are and always will be individuals who have different powers giving them unique experiences of the world. The subconscious mind is the power-house of our reality and people who find ways to use these powers perform acts considered supernormal or miraculous such as curing the incurable or relieving pain that in others is unbearable. Our minds work miracles on our existence in every instant of our day and the infinite variations determine no one is ever identical to another.
The point of this is that we aren't in a position to be absolutely sure that Nostradamus' claim his mind was the vehicle for his future-seeing is false. But if his claim was accurate then it would still be his culture, tradition and sensory filters that shape the pictures that he sees.
I am confident Nostradamus wasn't a charlatan who created his Prophecies with the intent of deception. And I am also confident he wasn't pursuing a religious agenda. Rather his view of religion was that it was and is a problematic driver of man's actions. It is this aspect of Nostradamus' Prophecies that I want to address within the following chapters since religious events are a huge part of his visions as evidenced by the latter parts of the 1558 Epistle to Henry.
The writings in the middle section of the Epistle give strong evidence that they were meant to be the mechanism by which to remove the obscurities Nostradamus deliberately placed in his Prophecies and his prefaces. This evidence consists of the very great number of peculiar wordings that allow verses to be linked to the content of the Epistle. These act as ciphers that allow sense to be delivered to the Prophecies and what seem like ramblings in the Epistle.
The deliberate obscurities in Nostradamus' works include incompleteness for place, time, event and persons as well as dislocation and disruption of logical order.
One of my major aims in later chapters will be to show the extent to which the ciphers work. Another will be to present a well-ordered picture of the time period in which religious wars of an unprecedented nature create harm to humankind.
In this chapter I want to summarize the background to the wars that emerges from the use of the ciphers in the Epistle. This story is about the use of modern DNA technology turned to purposes other than that foreseen by its inventors.
For God will take notice of the long barrenness of the great dame, who thereupon will conceive two principal children. But she will be undermined because of the temerity of the age. It is in the 18th that she is undermined by death. She will not pass her thirty-sixth and she will leave three males, and one female, and of these two will not have had the same father...Henry Epistle 1558 (HEE8a)
The story begins with a religious group that draws its sense of science from a period two thousand one hundred years before their time. It is the promised resurrection of Christ mixed into a stream of thought that accepts their Jesus was a mortal. This particular minority group draws upon that mortality as a basis for believing Jesus' DNA lives on in modern people as well as in his 'authenticated' relics from the past.
It is to the end of resurrecting Jesus that they dedicate research and once having reached their own conclusions they implant the chosen DNA into various women with the aim of producing Jesus clones.
The daughter will be given away in order to conserve the Christian Church [as] her domineering [ways] fall into the paganism sect of the new infidels. Of her two children, one will be faithful and the other unfaithful after confirmation into the Catholic Church...Henry Epistle 1558 (HEE9a)
The claim that Jesus clones have been created is the beginning of the world's new problems in the 22nd century. At this time the world's surface has been greatly diminished by flood and people are on the move out of the lowlands of Europe and other places into the lands of Africa, the Middle-East and Asia.
For some time thereafter the blood of the Innocent will be shed profusely by the recently elevated guilty ones. Then, because of great floods, the memory of things contained in these instruments will suffer incalculable loss as will the letters. This will happen to the "Aquiloners" [the Northern People] by the will of God...Henry Epistle 1558 (HEE23b)
This is an unimaginably volatile world ready to temporarily support any party that promises the people relief from the fears of fragile mortality. But despite their desolation many of these same people are unready to accept that deliverance from any other belief system than their own. New Kings, conquerors, invaders come and go, offering false hope as they emerge but in reality tyranny still reigns. Laws change, liberty is removed and promises fade at a rapid pace while the people shift once again in their anticipation of the unknown savior.
The three brothers will have their differences and then they will have such great cooperation and agreement that the three and four parts of Europe will tremble. The youngest of them will sustain and augment the Christian monarchy, elevate sects and suddenly cast them down, Arabs retreat, kingdoms unite and new laws are promulgated...Henry Epistle 1558 (HEE8a)
The Jesus clones that survive the earliest turmoils are derived from a Macedonian woman whose daughter becomes a queen in the region stretching out from the North-West corner of the Adriatic to the Danube in the territory that once formed the Roman Kingdom of Pannonia.
After this the barren Dame of great power will be received by the people from the second of two nations. But the first are made obstinate by [she] who has all power over the second and so a third [nation] will extend their forces towards the circuit of the East of Europe where, in the Pannonias (North-eastern Adriatic ) they will be profligate and die. The Messianic Jesus clone is raised in the daughter's household when his mother moves to the daughter's realm and it is in this complex household that dysfunction guides much of the course of their sons.
Over several centuries the members of this family head the different groupings that maintain the war. Many change alliance between those which seek to support or annihilate the direct line of the Jesus clone.
And by sea the navy will extend to Adriatic Sicily. It is to the Myrmidons (ancient Greeks) and Germanics [that these lands] will totally succumb and [in this way] the Barbarian sect of the Latins will be greatly afflicted and driven out...Henry Epistle 1558 (HEE10a)
As a result of these inter-clashes two people who succeed in slaying the Jesus-heir from two different eras are labeled Antichrists by Nostradamus.
Then the great Empire of the Antichrist will begin where once was Attila's empire and Xerxes will fall in great and countless numbers. So the coming of the Holy Ghost, proceeding from the 48th degree, will make a transmigration chasing out the abomination of the Antichrist. This Antichrist makes war against the Royal who will become the Great Vicar of Jesus Christ. It is several centuries before the warring ceases and much of this is the result of one of the heir who has the gift of eloquent and rational speech.
Then there will come out of the stem which had remained barren for so long, proceeding from the 50th parallel, one who will renew the whole Christian Church.
And a great peace will be made, with union and concord between some of the children of opposite ideas, who have been separated by diverse realms. This peace is made as the great sweet-talker, the instigator and promoter of military factions, attaches it to the deepest abyss [found] in the diversity of religions...Henry Epistle 1558 (HEE13a)
And after such a long time has lasted, another reign of Saturn and a golden century will almost be renewed. God the Creator will say hearing the affliction of his people that Satan will be set, and bound in the abyss of the deepest pit in hell. And then there commences between God and men a, universal peace, which will last about a thousand years, and in turn this is its great strength, when Ecclesiastic power turns to the astute. ...Henry Epistle 1558 (HEE26b)
This peace will last a thousand years before the final phase of man's domination begins.
After that Antichrist will be the infernal prince again, for the last time. All the Kingdoms of Christianity will tremble, even those of the infidels, for the space of twenty-five years. And there will be many grievous wars and battles, and towns, cities, castles and all other edifices that will be burned, desolated and destroyed. With great effusion of vestal blood married woman and widows will be violated and raped and sucking children dashed and broken against the walls of towns. By means of Satan, Prince Infernal, so many evils will be committed that nearly all the world will find itself undone and desolated.
